New Updates! The house is now equipped with both cooling and heating systems! New marble tile in the primary bathroom, and many other interior updates. The Mill Pond House is a completely restored 1840s colonial farmhouse adjacent to the famous Mill Pond in the historic district of West Tisbury in Martha’s Vineyard. Remodeled by the present owner, an interior designer, it is beautifully appointed with antiques, charming accessories, and comfortable furnishings. An old pine floor and columns add to the ambiance of the interior.
The first floor has been converted to an open space plan with a cozy living room, a smart TV, fully equipped kitchen, and a charming dining area seating eight, kept always comfortable with a new heating and cooling system throughout. Adjoining is a double bedroom with half-bath as well as a screened porch, a dining table for 4, another TV, with a seating area and a beautiful view of the spacious deck, container plantings, and yard rolling down toward the Mill Pond. The main house is 2,700 square feet.
Upstairs there is king, queen and twin bedrooms; two with a beautiful view, and 2 TVs. Laundry facilities are conveniently located in one of the two full bathrooms.
THE SUMMER HOUSE An adjacent original barn has been carefully converted and extended to meet the needs of families today. It now holds 2 separate sleeping spaces for 4 guests, separated by pocket doors, a half bath, and a nearby outside shower.
The Summer House offers all the comforts of a home for work or play as well as a strong WIFI signal and TV. Children will delight in -puzzles, toys, and games. Beach chairs are in an adjacent shed as well as beach equipment and more toys. There is a fence at the front of the property for youngsters. Guests can enjoy outdoors game including badminton, croquet and corn hole! The backyard and vista provide a lovely pastoral setting often enhanced by brilliant sunsets!
OUR INTERESTING HISTORIC REGION-We are within walking distance of the quaint colonial town of “West Tisbury” dating from the 1600s when resident Indians and colonists (including the son of Myles Standish, the Mayhew family, and other well-known settlers) came to grind their corn and exchange goods. Today the Village holds the first church, on the Island, an amazing new well-equipped library, Alley’s General Store, an art gallery, a weekly farmer’s market, and craft and antique shows, not to mention a playground!
