Idalyn Macchia Gilstad
Associate Broker
Excellent communication and research skills are central to Idalyn’s success in real estate. Whether she’s helping a seller highlight a property’s best features, or learning what defines the perfect island dream home for a buyer, Idalyn knows the ropes and how to get results. Originally from Boston, her business roots are in video, film, and television production. Having graduated cum laude with a BA in communications from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst, Idalyn worked for eleven years at a Boston-area production facility as a post-production supervisor, then as operations manager. In servicing busy clients who produced PBS documentaries and corporate sales training videos, her planning, problem-solving, and people skills gave her a solid grounding for her eventual move into real estate. In 1997, Idalyn made the transition, working first with DeWolfe New England Real Estate in Arlington and later, with Coldwell Banker Landmarks Real Estate in Vineyard Haven, and Viewpoints in Vineyard Haven. Now with Wallace & Co. Sotheby’s International Realty, her twenty-seven years of experience cover a wide range of Island-wide transactions, from Edgartown to Aquinnah and every town in between. A well-rounded, knowledgeable, and skilled negotiator, she enjoys the challenge of that elusive art, and has helped facilitate property sales including luxury second homes, primary homes, beach lots, and vacant land. Idalyn builds trust and solid relationships with her business savvy, seasoned professionalism, and overall good humor. As a buyer’s agent, she guides clients through the complexities of purchasing real estate on the island of Martha’s Vineyard. An experienced listing agent, she excels at counseling sellers on how to obtain the best price in a timely manner. Her diligence in analyzing industry and island-specific data leaves no stone (or comparable property) unturned. Among Idalyn’s favorite island activities are dog walks with friends at the dog park, relishing in the goodness of her yoga practice, attending the island’s many film festivals, spending quality time with her grandchildren, traveling with her husband, and cooking for family and friends.
